# Change, cancel or pay for your Octopoda plan

> Upgrade or downgrade your Octopoda plan, buy top-up credits, update your card, download invoices, cancel, and fix a failed payment from the Billing page.

Everything about paying for Octopoda is on the **Billing** page in the web app, under **Settings**. Only owners and admins of an account can see it. Payments, cards and invoices are handled by Stripe.

## Change plan

Select **Change plan** and pick a plan.

* **Upgrading** takes effect immediately. Stripe charges the difference for the rest of the current month, and the new plan's extra credits are added right away.
* **Downgrading** takes effect at your next renewal. You keep your current plan and its credits until then, and the Billing page shows the plan you will move to.

## Buy more credits

Select **Buy top-up** to buy 10 credits for \$25 on Stripe. They are added within a minute of payment and last 12 months. See [Plans and credits](https://docs.octopoda.dev/billing/plans-and-credits.md).

## Invoices, card and cancellation

Select **Invoices and card** to open the Stripe customer portal. There you can:

* download invoices and receipts,
* update your card, and
* cancel your plan.

When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the month you paid for, and your credits stay usable until then. You are not charged again. After that, scans stop until you start a new plan; your findings and scan history are kept.

## If a payment fails

If a renewal payment fails, Octopoda pauses scans for the account and emails its owners and admins. A banner on the Billing page links to **Update card**. Once Stripe collects the payment, scans resume and the new month's credits are added. Your data is kept the whole time.

## Usage

The Billing page also shows your credit balance by source (plan, carried over, top-ups) with when each expires, and every credit change. Select **Download CSV** to export it.
